GoMedia, Europe’s leading onboard infotainment provider for transport operators, is launching its innovative platform on National Express – bringing Sky News and Sky Sports News to public transport for the first time.
VUER (View, Unwind, Enjoy, Relax) – the entertainment system specially designed by GoMedia for National Express – goes live on the company’s fleet of 618 coaches at the end of the month, with more than 100 hours of regularly updated content, including Sky News and Sky Sports News bulletins, on top of blockbuster movie titles and TV box sets. Targeted and pre-roll advertising will round out the entertainment package.
The innovative onboard infotainment platform streams content to passengers’ own devices – whether mobile, tablet or laptop – over National Express coaches’ existing Wi-Fi infrastructure. Connectivity issues are mitigated by storing content and pre-roll advertising in an onboard server, to provide a seamless viewing experience.
Roger Matthews, managing director, GoMedia, says: “Our partnership with National Express will bring world-class entertainment onboard coaches for the first time, representing a revolution of the onboard experience. Many people remember coach travel from their school days, but it is one of the most comfortable and efficient ways to travel for leisure and business. Along with National Express, we intend to change the coach passenger experience for good, providing outstanding content that will make journeys entertaining and informative.”
Tom Stables, managing director, National Express UK Coach, says: “We are delighted to have collaborated with GoMedia in launching the first onboard entertainment system in UK coach travel. Our aim is to transform the way in which the millions of people experience coach travel and by introducing premium content from the likes of Sky Sports News, we feel that passengers will be getting the most out of their journeys.”
GoMedia’s infotainment platforms are available on Eurostar and Virgin Trains – with other national operators to be announced shortly. Alongside entertainment, GoMedia generates significant ancillary revenue opportunities for customers, including Pay TV, sponsorship, enhanced data, passenger upgrades and at-seat ordering.
