September 2018, London: GoMedia, Europe’s leading onboard infotainment systems developer, is announcing Greyhound as its first North American customer.
GoMedia has launched its onboard platform with Icomera, Greyhound’s onboard Wi-Fi provider, on the motorcoach operator’s fleet of buses, providing passengers with access to the latest Hollywood blockbusters including Black Panther, Justice League and Wonder Woman, TV boxsets and much more as the service rolls out.
Matt Seaman, CEO, GoMedia, says: “The United States provides amazing opportunities for GoMedia to boost the onboard experience for even more public transport users. The bus and motorcoach industry is a huge market in the US, with long-distance bus travel a key operative in interstate travel, and we are proud to be providing Greyhound with Europe’s industry-leading infotainment platform. “GoMedia’s launch into the US market comes off the back of our successes in the UK and Europe, where we have worked with some of the continent’s leading transport operators to increase passenger satisfaction and turn previously dead time into entertaining and productive time. We are looking forward to this new chapter, helping Greyhound create enjoyable and memorable experiences for its passengers.”
As well as delivering the onboard Wi-Fi technology, Icomera will host the GoMedia Infotainment content as a virtual application on its high-performance mobile access and application router. This eliminates the need for additional onboard hardware such as a dedicated media server.
Magnus Friberg , Senior VP of Icomera’s activities in the Americas: “Having supplied onboard Internet solutions to Greyhound since 2010, we are very pleased to be continually serving both operator and passengers with our industry-leading onboard connectivity platform. By working with GoMedia to provide premium entertainment, the passenger experience will evolve and push further ahead of the curve. We are looking forward to seeing how our partnership can deliver further functionality through 2019 and beyond.”
Todd Koch, VP of Strategy and Business Development, Greyhound Lines, Inc. says: “We are dedicated to ensuring that our passengers receive the most complete experience possible when traveling with Greyhound. Working with GoMedia and Icomera means more of our passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy world-class content from leading studios. We are showcasing ourselves as industry innovators, which has been a part of our DNA throughout our long history.”
