Audible to join TV and film options for Greyhound entertainment
19 August 2019, London: GoMedia today announced a deal with Audible, the world’s largest seller and producer of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, to bring audio programming to Greyhound Buses.
From crime to adventure, romance to memoir, Greyhound Buses’ passengers can listen to dozens of Audible books through the operator’s GoMedia-developed onboard platform as they travel across the US and into Mexico and Canada.
Roger Matthews, managing director, GoMedia, says: “Audiobooks are experiencing explosive growth worldwide, with numbers sold doubling between 2013 and 2018.* Alongside Audible we’re extremely proud to mark our first spoken word deal, enabling Greyhound Buses to create enjoyable experiences for its passengers with a range of complementary Audible books, enriching the world-class film and TV content currently available.”
Todd Koch, vice president of strategy, marketing and consumer engagement at Greyhound, says: “With more than 16 million people travelling to over 2,400 destinations on Greyhound, we’re always looking for new ways to improve our passenger experience.
“Since launching our onboard platform with GoMedia last year we’ve been able to offer Hollywood blockbusters and TV boxsets to Greyhound passengers. Adding Audible content enrichens the service we provide, allowing customers to let their mind drift away as they get engrossed in a good story.”
Audible will launch on Greyhound Buses this autumn. In addition to Audible books, passengers also now have access to a dedicated film section on their portal where Greyhound Buses is the star. ‘Greyhound in the Movies’ features blockbusters such as Dark Knight Rises, The Front Runner and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, all of which include scenes featuring some of the 1,700 vehicles that are part of the Greyhound fleet.
